About this service

Children rarely have the words for what they feel. Child therapy offers patient, playful support that helps them express themselves and helps parents understand what's going on underneath. Dr. Nayyar has extensive experience in child guidance, and parents are part of the process at every step.

Who it may help

  • Your child seems anxious, withdrawn or unusually upset
  • Behaviour at home or school has changed
  • School feels stressful or they're reluctant to go
  • A family change has affected them
  • Your teenager has become distant

Our approach & your first session

Younger children are supported through age-appropriate, playful methods; teenagers through conversation that respects their growing independence. An initial assessment helps understand what your child needs. Parents are guided on how to support their child at home, so progress continues between sessions.

What to expect first time

Your first session is a gentle conversation — a chance to talk about what brought you here and what you'd like to feel differently. There's no pressure to share more than you're ready to, and by the end you'll have a sense of how working together might help.

Online & in-person availability

This service is available in person in New Delhi and online by video. You can choose whichever suits you, or switch between the two as your week allows. Sessions are led by Dr. Anjuman Nayyar, a counselling psychologist with over 35 years' experience.

Common questions

Support is available for children and adolescents roughly between the ages of 4 and 18, with the approach adapted to each child's age and stage.

Yes. Parental involvement is an important part of child therapy. You'll be guided on how to support your child at home, while respecting an older child's need for some private space.

The first step is usually a conversation with parents and an initial assessment to understand your child's world and what would help. For younger children this is gentle and playful rather than formal.

This is very common. Sometimes a first session with parents helps, and teenagers often open up once they realise the space is theirs and not about being judged. There's no pressure to share before they're ready.

Some work can be done online, particularly with older children and teenagers. For younger children, in-person sessions are often more suitable. This is discussed based on your child's needs.

Where appropriate, assessments can be part of understanding a child's needs. What's involved is explained clearly to parents beforehand.

Sessions move at the child's pace in a warm, non-judgemental setting. Nothing is forced, and building trust always comes first.
